Children's Favorite Banana Nut Bread

Having some really ripe bananas,I found my recipe that I have had forever.Christopher and Emi ,along with Ken, would enjoy it all in one day.
Since we have been in Stoney Point ,I make a loaf to share with each new family.

1/2 cup veg. shortening                         1/2tsp.baking powder
1 1/2 cups sugar                                    2 eggs,unbeaten
2 cups flour                                           1/4 cup milk
1/2tsp. salt                                            2 large bananas
1/2tsp. baking soda                               1/2 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar.Sift flour and next 3 ingredients and slowly add to creamed mixture.Add eggs,1 at a time.Mix well .Stir in milk, bananas and nuts.Bake for 1 hour.

.My Mother always liked to add a little lemon zest.
I don't mash my bananas in a bowl.I gently mash them before I peel them.
Once peeled, I add them in chunks with mixer on medium speed

Don't forget to check the date on your baking powder....I looked at mine and it was from '07....don't ask

Hope you like this as much as my family does.
